Spirit of Technology™
Spirit of Technology™
goes well beyond just programming and robots.
Spirit of Technology™ (SoT) is an initiative by Spirit of Math.
SoT presents a unique approach to teaching technology. We believe that the key differentiators between Spirit of Technology and other programs is our 4 elements of drill (building fluency and automaticity), core curriculum (skills, knowledge and concepts), problem solving (reasoning, logical thinking and imagination), and collaborative group work. This ensures that students properly learn and practice skills, develop an in-depth understanding of the material and have an opportunity to apply their understanding, skills and imagination to solving problems while learning with others. As an introduction to this program, a summer camp has been created with the intent to spark the joy of the essence or “spirit” of technology.
When looking at a program for technology we strongly felt that students should know how to work with technology, how to program it and create new capabilities. Students should have a greater understanding of how technology is integrated within all areas of the world and how it is affecting humanity. Consequently, our program has been created to introduce many topics and ideas that go well beyond just programming and robots.

Our students had a fabulous time while learning new skills such as keyboarding while being introduced to new programming languages such as Scratch and Python. They learned to program robots and also designed and coded their own games in Scratch on their own! This was just a small taste of what is to come in our upcoming full year curriculum.
