LahoreReport

Spirit of Math Pakistan (SoMP) is getting closer and closer to opening the doors to its campus in Lahore, Pakistan. Over the past few weeks, SoM CEO and Co-founder Kim Langen and her team have been busy in Lahore in preparation of opening various campuses throughout the Pakistani city; hiring dedicated teachers and integrating themselves into the local community.

Here’s what they’ve been up to:

Networking at the ICB
On Feb. 8, SoMP directors attended  the 3rd International Conference on Biotechnology at the University of South Asia, which provided a tremendous opportunity to network with people in one of Pakistan’s leading industries.

Meeting Parents and Students
SoMP hosted a booth at The City School, Alpha campus, DHA Phase 6 in Lahore, where parents and students got the chance to meet Kim Langen and other members of our team.

On March 18, Kim Langen was a panelist at The City School Network’s Early Years Symposium in Lahore. She, along with a panel of other thought leaders, discussed how  it is essential for students to be equipped with fundamental concepts and 21st century themes to be able to fully participate in today’s global community. During the panel discussion, the speakers discussed the impact of content and suitable teaching strategies and methods that can foster the fundamental skills required by the 21st century learners. The emphasis of the panel was how to build self esteem.

Spirit of Math in the News!
The local media in Lahore is beginning to notice SoM’s presence in the country! On March 13, SoM Academic Director for Pakistan Kirsti Langen spoke to The Express Tribune about bringing our unique curriculum to a foreign country and how she hopes the program will help change the way math is perceived by parents and children in the region. Read the article here.

On March 12, Kim Langen was featured in The Nation as a guest writer. In her piece, Langen recalls coming to Lahore for the first time. Read Kim’s column here.
