Getting Involved: Spirit of Math in the Community
Dedicated to Community Building
As global leaders in education and innovation, we at Spirit of Math Schools are dedicated to helping our local communities thrive!
Through our campuses located throughout Canada, the United States and Pakistan, we are always looking for ways to contribute to a wide range of initiatives for the betterment of our global community.
Here’s a look at just a few ways Spirit of Math gets involved:
The Gwendolyn Ledger Memorial Fund
This fund provides a scholarship for post-secondary education to one individual each year, assisting them in becoming employable. In 2017. Spirit of Math provided a donation to the fund, which is held in trust by the Cummer Avenue United Church Board of Trustees. Since 2009, the fund has assisted 15 individuals.
The Withrow Silent Auction
Withrow Avenue Public School is situated in Toronto’s Riverdale neighborhood. Withrow is a dual-track school, offering both an English and Early French Immersion program to approximately 600 students. The building also houses the Withrow Childcare Centre as well as Quest Alternative Senior School. Withrow is also a focal point for the community and is used by community groups outside school hours.
Every year, the Withrow Home and School Association holds a silent auction to raise funds for a number of initiatives for the betterment of education in the community. Recently, Spirit of Math provided a donation to the silent auction, held on April 7, 2017.
Aga Khan World Partnership Walk
Every year, Spirit of Math partners with the World Partnership Walk in support of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC). In 2016, under the leadership of team captain Qaahir Rahemtulla from the Spirit of Math Thornhill campus, our team raised more than $11,375 for the AKFC, an organization dedicated to social, economic, and cultural development in 30 countries across the globe.
Our campaign was recognized by the Canadian Government, who matched our fundraising efforts, resulting in a $22,750 contribution to the cause.
On May 28 in Toronto, Spirit of Math will again be on hand at the World Partnership Walk at David Pecaut Square.
