Dorota Mazur moved to Canada in 1993. Although she earned her MSc. in Chemistry in Poland many years ago, it was in Canada where her dream came true; she has just graduated with Specialized Honours BSc in Mathematics, and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Pure Mathematics at York University.
Throughout her years of teaching and tutoring mathematics, Dorota has gained a deeper understanding of the complexity and ambiguity of the process of education, especially the formation of so called 'mathematical identity'. She believes that certain principles make teaching mathematics a satisfying experience for both the student and teacher. These principles include creating a stimulating, friendly and cooperative environment, in which the students and teacher working together have the chance to grow in proficiency.
Dorota also loves traveling, skiing and playing GO.
