After studying the methods used by her father, Charles, Kim implemented her science and mathematics teaching background at the high school level, with the Spirit of Math program. She has taught all the Spirit of Math grades and wrote many of the units in the grades 1-4 curriculum. She now continues to develop and oversee the curriculum for the after school schools in all grades. Kim was instrumental in taking the entire curriculum and putting it together to form what is now the Spirit of Math course, and
continues to write material for the classroom. She developed the Spirit of Math business model, and the teacher, principal and campus owner training and support programs. After Gwen passed away in 2001, Kim wanted to ensure that this program continued and this is when she transformed the Spirit of Math program from one based on the three “Ledgers” to one that would include many other people. Her passion is to provide an opportunity to as many people as possible, to experience this incredible program. Franchising and writing material for day-schools are the mediums by which she is doing this.
Kim is the CEO of Spirit of Math Schools Inc. Kim worked as a teacher in public and private schools and was the Director of Academics for the Bethany Hills School. She has a Bachelor of Arts and an Honours Bachelor of Science, both from Queen’s University, as well as a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto.
